In memoriam

I can't actually believe its already sunday evening, where has the weekend gone?! Kind of scary actually. I had a lovely weekend, went round a friends for dinner which was yummy and considering she cant eat wheat the dinner was very impressive! We went into town and had a drink after that but it was just lovely going round her house and hanging out, my kind of evening these days, god i sound so old! LOL

Anyway just a quick update. Today is quite a sad day for me, well it not due to anything personal at all, but I am a huge fan of this lady and its 40 years ago today the dreadful and barbaric acts happened in 1969. I dont want to give too much energy to what happened, but just wanted to mention Sharon Tate and just for people to remember her the way she was and not how she died. She was a beautiful soul and I really hope she is at peace now, and my thoughts are with her family on this sad day.

RIP Sharon Tate - Jan 24th 1943 - August 9th 1969

Beauty addict continues her evil destruction!!

Ok so I haven't blogged for a while, sometimes I get the urge, sometimes I don't. Much like writing in my diary when i was 14, and i wrote in my diaries religiously for 7 odd years about SO much random crap, hilarious to read them now, at the time, not so much as I lived through it! lol

(being a teenager can be such a drag, regardless of how Hollywood likes to make it out as all cutesy and fluffy a la clueless mine was more like mean girls/pretty in pink, without the happy endings - if only my life was like Cher's was in clueless,...*sigh*)

Anyways reasons for writing don't come anymore random than a few randoms. ?!. I just wanted to share my most recent purchase today on ebay:

Its a gorgeous nude eyeshadow palette by Bobbi Brown from her Nudes collection (we are talking make up here not artistic nudes!!) and its de-gorgeous!!!! Of course I splurged money i dont really have but hey lifes for living right?! And having the best looking eye shadow make up e-v-e-r! LOL. I do make my self laugh for my self justification for said purchase but i felt i had to buy it. I had two crappy job interviews today and didn't feel 100% positive about the outcomes of them so went on ebay and ker-ching; i brought these beauties. And personally I did save some money. It retails at £42 on the http://www.bobbibrown.co.uk/ website and I brought this for roughly about £37 inc postage from america, so i felt pretty chuffed with ma good self. And it will last me years, i now because i still have my Chanel 4 eye shadow compact from like 5 years ago and its still good to go, although now i have some newer brown eye shadows i should probably throw that one out, the hygenine make up police will be after me!! LOL

Oh and I also brought this last night too:

Its from www.esprit.co.uk and its super cute (but ignore the belt - looks so wrong with it) and quite sixties (my constant obsession at the moment along with the hair, make up, music, i wont bore you anymore! and its a gorgeous colour and will take me into winter and will look fab with opaque tights or leggings. I haven't got it yet, so not sure how it will look on but will report back.
Also seen a cute dress on mango.com so might check them out too. I need a dress as I'm off to Leeds to par-tay with the girls in a few weeks time.

Just heard Madonna's new tune 'celebration' which is a-m-a-z-i-n-g and a sure fire hit I hope. She deserves a number one personally, and the fact that we are without our King anymore we need to apprieciaite our Queen! I love it. It has touches of Get Together and Hung up in it, a return to form, she wants to leave the hip hop to those who know, dance is her thang!!

Right I'm signing off, i have things to do. Adios!

Beauty Beauty Beauty!!

Ok so its nearly my lovely friend Jo's wedding on saturday 18th July in cambridge. Am getting rather excited for a good old knees up. This is probably one of the weddings i am looking forward to the most, apart from mine (ha whenever that happens!) and my sisters which was back in 2004 and was the hottest day in august and my hair and bridesmaid dress weren't my favourites, but hey can't win em all!

I'm really looking forward to this one because I will know so many of the people going, alot of the girls are great friends of mine, and I've even made new friends of Jo's on her hen do, which was so much fun. Can't wait to see all the girls again!

Well I am currently toying with make up and hair ideas for saturday. I am definatley going to curl/wave my hair with my trusty GHD's. But how i am going to do the style depends.

My hair icon is Lauren Conrad and has been for sometime. Everytime she does her hair it looks amazing, never a hair out of place and is perfectley styled and shiny. I don't know how she does it (well i suppose having MTV running around after you helps) and I love that she experiments with her hair. I never thought to curl or wave my hair until the last year or so. And since I have I've really liked it and found it suited me pretty well.

Its definately something you have to play around with though, and really curled hair doesn't suit me and you have to start curling the hair just at the right length of the hair, as if you start at the root and curl out it can look pretty dated.

I was origionally going to style my look on Sharon Tate, but have decided that the 60's look probably isn't ideal for a wedding and i want it to still be quite californian relaxed style but not overly so.

My dress is from Monsoon and is a royal blue shift dress, which sits just above the knee. I am wearing black 3 inch sandals from Moda in Pelle,I am taking a silver clutch bag from Dune (old faithfull) and my jewellry will be silver again and I am keeping it low key, a butterfly silver necklace, some big silver drop earrings, not sure which ones yet! And some silver rings. If my order from Lucid New York turns up I will be wearing a cocktail ring and a silver cupcake charm necklace, but I don't imagine it will be hear yet!

My make up will be a mix of MAC studio fix liquid foundation, Maybelline dream liquid foundation and Boujois 10 hr sleep effect, all mixed together and applied with a MAC stippling brush. I will set it with MAC blot loose powder. I will use YSL radiant touch and MAC studio sculpt concealor around my dark circles and imperfections. I will use NARS Laguna bronzer all over my face, and then add some Benefit High Beam on my cheeks. My eye shadow will be MACs all that glitters all overmy eye and then I will use my Shu Uemura Black liquid eyeliner on the top of my eyelash line and wing it out. Then I will use Dior Mascara in Dior show (the best one IMO ) and then add to the corners of my lashes invidual lashes from Shu Uemura or MACS eye lashes, not sure yet! And use either MAC snob pale lipstick or Boujois pale lipstick and either use MAC Nymphette lipglass or Prr or en pointe lipglass throughout the day, all are my favourites.

And voila! That will be me done hopefully! LOL

Sparkle Superstar

Thought I would blog today, the whole Michael Jackson memoriam and coverage has been rather depressing of late, I am glad it is almost all over, i've cried quite a few tears over it all, and hopefully now his family can get some closure and time to grieve without the media furor, although I very much doubt it will die down for sometime.

Anyhow I have had a great weekend, I went to see the Queen of Pop Madonna at the O2 on saturday, she did a touching tribute to MJ which of course made me cry, how could you not be touched by this? Add to the fact she is the same age, same musical era, and they have met each other many times, it just added to the poinency of it all. She didn't sing (can you imagine how she would be ridiculed for that?) but instead a dancer came on dressed as MJ and did some moves, while M and dancers looked on. It was short and sweet but moving, and images of MJ on the screens only added to it. Add to the fact he was due to play here next week and its even more heartbreaking. RIP MJ.

I also saw the amazing Take That at wembley stadium on the sunday which was AMAZING. I lvoed M's show but Take That suppassed it by miles, it was breathtaking! The Circus theme worked so well and visually there was so much to see, i didnt want the show to end! Loved it, and cant wait for the dvd.

This weekend its my sisters 35th, which i cant believe as she still looks 28 to me! Hard to believe she has had a baby, Mia bless her will be 2 in august!
Anyhow it will be a nice family weekend, going out for lunch and having a few drinks of bubbly i hope!

Tomorrow i am out for dinner with some of the girls from Jo Batemans hen do, and some who couldnt make it which will be lovely. A pre dinner meal before Jos big day on saturday 18th July. I hope the weather is kind to her and Martin, i have a feeling its mixed weather for next week, but hopefully not.

Right, i'd better get back to work, off to town at 5 and to have a mosey around the shops!

The music will live on

No words can express, only memories left. I grew up with his music, his videos, his moves, his energy and his unique talent that he shared with the world. There will never be another like him, never before and never after. I will always remember his gift and what he shared with us all. And how I felt as a kid, so alive dancing and singing to his music.

Thanks MJ for everything you gave us, especially me, and made me feel so happy and free when i danced to your music. I am so privledged to have grown up with your music and feel happy that you left such a mark on popular culture.

May you rest in peace XXXX

Eeek, SO exciting!

You know when you are just so psyched you can't really eat, sleep or function?! Well thats me at the moment. I am just soooo excited for the hen do trip, but at the same time I have butterflies and am just stressing about packing, as i'm only taking a small suitcase (hard to believe if you know my previous holiday packing craziness) and obviously there is a limit to what I can take. But probably for the best that I don't take too much as I ALWAYS pack too much and this way it means I take everything that I will wear. And I could always re wear vest tops etc. Well I have my five evening outfits sorted so I dont need to worry about those, and its just the day stuff, but thats easy, hopefully we will just be in our bikinis around the beach and pool.

Also add to the fact that there finally seems to be some good looking blokes on the dating site im on (but luckily im not paying anymore as my subscription expired for now) and there is this really cute guy (hope its his picture!) on there who is 30 and I winked at him, he winked at me back (relatively speaking of course!) and he then emailed me, sounds really nice, shame he lives in surrey, but still, potentional definatley, I'm not going to let my location limit me, doesn't seem to be anyone decent where I am! His name is Simon, he has blue eyes, 5'9, cute cute cute! Mind you this is early days, i might not be saying that when we meet up, if we do! Luckily, he lives near where i used to go to Uni and where my friends live, so could be handy if i needed to pop down to theres for the weekend and kill two birds!
Well its so early days we are practically in the victorian era, so i might be tempting fate, but would be so lovely to meet up with a hottie for once! ; )

I heart the weekend

Hoorah its nearly the weekend! I am still at work, but luckily most people are in the friday mood, although tbh there arn't many peeps in, which is nice. Someone has brought in a gazillion quantities of food, all rather tempting but I am trying to be good and not eat too much before my holiday! Yesterday I was really bad and ate way too much so today I have to be good. Although tomorrow I will be drinking alcohol but only half a bottle, while watching confessions of a shopahollic with carrie!

Whats up and whats down

So today has been a glorious sunny day and it does make a change for the sun to be constantly shining as it has done over the last 3 or 4 days. Have heard the summer is going to be even better this year which is great, as I think Ill be spending alot of time here this year!

So decided to try this as I've seen it on other blogs and thought its was cool so:

Whats Hot:

* The weather being so lovely and sunny

* Portugal (hen do) being just 10 days away!!!! SO excited! Have ordered my currency and have just got to get a few other bits and pieces this saturday

* Getting my hair highlighted this saturday - am fed up with my almost light brown coloured hair, and am going to up the blonde with no dark put in at all! Cant wait, think I look so : ( the darker my hair colour

* My magic tan and wax next tuesday (ok wax isnt something to look forward to i know but i like to feel neat and tidy - freak that I am!!) Just hope the Magic tan booth doesn't make me end up looking like Ross in that episode of friends, ha, oh dear.

* Alice in Wonderland anything. Am obsessed with the book, and this amazing website by a wonderful UK jewellry designer called Hoolala: http://www.hoolala.co.uk/charmnecklace3.htm
Her stuff is amazing and so unique - really want the alice charm necklace - but may have to wait a while as its not cheap, but its oh so unique!

* My fab Madonna Like a Virgin t shirt from Junk Food: http://www.sweetnsourtees.com/junkfoodmadonnavirgintourgirlyt-shirt.aspx

I was accidentley trying to work out the price in total on this US website sweet n sour tees when i accidently pressed buy now and oops the transaction went through!! Oh well. And typical as I go and buy it it becomes available at a UK online retailer Truffle Shuffle when i couldnt find it anywhere over here before! But I actually have managed to save money by buying it from the us as it only cost £29 including shipping when its £30 on truffle shuffle not including delivery! So method to my crazy typing madness this morning. Of course I'll be wearing it on 4th July at the O2 when me and Rachel see the Queen in action on the dance floor - cannot wait!

Whats Not:

* My hideous hire car - a Citroen C1 or something random like that - its basically like a Toyota Aygo, i.e rubbish. You put it in 1st and your sat at the traffic lights, roundabout, junction whatever. When its all clear/red, you try and get going but all the bloody engine does is rev and go at a snails pace. Very embarressing (as if not having air con, central locking, electic windows, sun roof, car lighter to play my ipod through was bad enough!) and also very irritating when you want to go some place. Rubbish Rubbish! Thank god my car (and its dents bless its little heart) will be fixed by thursday.

* Online dating. Consistently rubbish and a waste of money. The guys I like and wink at/email etc dont wink back or email me! Go figure! You've seen my photo! (lol ok slightly narssicistic of me to say that but i know what i look like lol) all i get is the dross and people who look nice but like in france. Uh huh, yeah like a relationship is going to happen like that. Its not sleepless in seattle! Good god. I do give in with it I really do. I guess you have to be in it to win it, but I also think if you go looking for it you don't find it and to be honest I'm pretty happy as I am, my myself and I. If someone comes allong, great, if someone doesnt, oh well, I'm still going to have a stellar time and not get myself down about it. Life is for living and I intend to do that!!

* Being pale. Ugh I bemoan having to wait for a tan! I am not going to use any of my fake tan products until after my magic tan next tuesday. Theres no point as it will come off in bits on my skin and look all patchy when they apply my new golden gleam. So best to start on a blank canvas. Will just be exfoliating this week. I will also be pretending pale is interesting (whoever said that obviously hadn't discovered the joys of fake tan and was obviously ginger) and pretending im like Madonna who never tans (but personally could do with a bit of colour on those biceps)

* No air con at work, being all sticky and sweaty (and not in a good way) and just feeling ugh at work. Thank god the lady I'm working for is a sweatheart and never has a go at my lack of scholastic apitude.

* Not yet looking like a svelt like stick insect. Ok slightly exagerating the stick insect part. A normal size 12 will do, a la Holly Willoughby (although personally i think shes selling herself short and shes more of a uk size 10 to me). Well i know it will take time i just want results now. But hey ho, better to keep it off longer if it takes time.

* Laurens last ever Hills! I just finished watching the last ever Hills and it was quite emotional to see her go. I've loved the Hills ever since it started 3 odd years ago. I loved her in Laguna Beach and followed her in the Hills with relish. It just wont be the same without her, even though it is a pretty vacant thing to watch, thats why I liked it. But I still have the box sets and will continue to watch Lauren go forward with her career (humm?! failed fashion designer, now writer? time will tell what she puts her hand to next) and I'm sure she will always inspire me with her looks and style.

SO tired

Ugh so I went out with Georgina last night which was great fun, caught up on lots of stuff, had a lovely meal at the local posh chinese restaurant (prawns in lemongrass, coconut and peanut satay sauce - divine!) but drank and smoked (eek - naughty girl am I - I've aged myself about 2 years) way too much and have been feeling the effects all today at work! God its been difficult!

I even got the munchies (after a few hours of feeling a bit sick and off colour) when it kicked in and I had to eat a full fat packet of woucester sauce crisps which helped alot! My WW diet is on strike today, plus having a bbq later and i will be eating a burger, yum, so diet definately off today, back on tomorrow!!

Nearly the weekend

So its thursday, hoorah! Am glad its been a short week, although its felt like a normal week on occasions! Looking forward to seeing George tonight for a meal in town and some drinks, weather looks like its picking up for the weekend which is good. Although not planning on doing much this weekend except for sorting out what holiday clothes I'm taking to Portugal in two weeks time (today!!! eeeek SO excited!) and just cleaning and doing some shredding of old bank statements.

Was SO happy on tuesday when I got a lovely cheque from the tax man for over £800! Woo hoo. It was money owed to me anyway (due to temping loads last year and being on an emergency tax code for ages when i shouldn'tve been) but it still felt good to see a cheque for that amount, totally made my day!

Really looking forward to next weekend as I'm going to get my hair colour sorted out. My hairdresser Stephanie is lovely bless her, but her interpretation of how much blonde I wanted in my hair last time did not compute. It looks even darker than it was before, which was not my intention! No, I am a blonde forever and darker blonde makes me sad and i look a bit pathetic without a bit of brightness in my hair. So I'm going to get half a head of light blonde put in my hair. No adding darker blonde to break it up nonsense, there loads of that already! No just plain old blonde highlights is the order of the day.

Whilst I'm there I'm going to get some gladiator sandalls for the holidays and also some benefit high beam highlighter, and some other bits and bobs for the holiday.
Well the holiday isnt specifically a holiday, its my friend Jos hen do, and we are going to portugal on thursday 11th June and coming home early wednesday 17th June, so almost a whole week! Cannot wait. And I spoke with gemma my recruitment consultant at Michael Page and she told me she has been before and loved it and is going again in september which is good to know, its made me even more excited now!

Well better get on with some work *yawn*. Roll on 5pm!!

Make up and such like

So I haven't yet talked about my love of all things make up. I don't know what it is about it, but since I was about 10 I have been in awe of the stuff. It started with the Avon Catalouge, I dont use their products anymore but it was their products that started my fascination with painting my face and changing my image.

Of course I was well aware of make up when i was even younger, my mother painted me up like a china doll (a very overly made china doll i might add!) when i did tap dancing and was in the end of year show. I did look rather like a clown in her make up, but still, it was the look of the 80s, and Mum sure did like her blusher!

And then i got given a doll from my dad which he brought in america called 'Candy'. I think she was a doll I got before I got into barbie, as she was very hard plasitc and not very posable, and her hair was a mass of frizz and not very easy to style. She came with a make up kit,but i remember it looking more like a painting kit! Blues and red eye shadows clashed terribly.
But once barbie came allong she already had a painted face, and Jem and the Holograms had such fab painted faces there was no need (or no way) to change them.

So anyway, bringing us up to date with my latest obsession! Well its not really latest, I've been obsessed with make up for sometime. And my family always tell me off for buying more of it, i cant help it, section me, for I am a make up junkie!!

One of the brands I love the most is MAC. They came over here in 1994 and I remember reading all about them in the magazines and being very excited to hear of an ethically sound make up brand, that make up artists used and so did the celebs.

I am so excited that FINALLY MAC have opened a shop in cambridge, so i never have to worry about running out of any of my favourite products. I love the lipsticks and the lipglasses, the eyelashes, mascara, powder and foundation are all amazing, I also just brought one of their stippling brushes for foundation and its amazing, makes my foundation look flawless on.

Well I think thats enough for today, I will blog again soon!

a little hello

Wow, so I haven't blogged on here for months now, but yesterday, as i was browsing the blogs of others I suddunly got the urge to blog once again, as I decided I will mix up my writing a bit, with bits of info on what make up i've brought recently (trust me, theres always something!) with what movies, music and stuff i'm into.

Well thought I would write a little about my most recent style inspiration. Now I don't really have many people that inspire my look so to say, I do have people i look up to inspiration wise, but I don't really want to dress or look like them (well not anymore!). Madonna and Marilyn Monroe I will count among those I admire and respect greatly. I don't really feel the need to dress like them though, but love their unique style and attitude.

Now at the moment I have been greatly influenced by one lady, I wouldn't say my everyday attire is like hers (although if funds allowed I would dress like her if i could) but I just love her overall look and style and especially her hair and make up.

Her name is Sharon Tate:

I just think Sharon had such beauty and style and class, and of course she died in such horrific and horrendous circumstances almost nearly 40 years ago this August 8th. I wont focus on her death so much here as it is such an awful thing to discuss, and I think we should remember Sharon for her beauty and grace and her style, and not let these monsters cloud this memory we have of her.
So anyhow, she is my style icon at the moment, I don't know how it came about, I think I was just browsing the internet and came across a photo of her. To me she sums up the style of the 60s and especially of california in the 60's, somewhere I wish i had been able to have experienced. I am pretty much obsessed with the 60s right now, its not something new to me, I even did my A Level art project on 60s fashion when i was 18 so I've always had a facination with it. I think as I am getting older and discovering my style more and what I prefer, I am more drawn to the style of the 60s, as i love the shifts dresses, the laid back hippy vibe of the late 60s and the mod look of the 60s. I am obsessed with the doors and all things 60s music anyway, so i feel a great love of the fashion and the time.
Adding to this I am trying to get my look more 60s when i go out. I did get my hair coloured recently, although not as blonde as i would like, s am going to make another appointment to get it coloured in July. I definatley want more of a malibu barbie colour going, (sharon tatw was the influence for malibu barbie did you know) and am also loving fake eye lashes, i have two pairs from MAC (one pair are totally 60s ) and love the whole make up look that was going in the 60s.
I am trying to loose weight too, after bulking up too much in the last 6 months or so, and just eating a load of rubbish. I am now determined to get down to a small size 12 (not going to go anymore than that - it wouldnt work long term for me anyway) although I know I wont achieve this before the hen do in 3 weeks time (more about that later) I know that I will definatley have lost at least 5 pounds by Jo B's wedding in July. Am going to be eating alot more salads and healthier snacks and things. It cant be done! Sharon Tate is my inspiration : )

back to it

Oh god I have totally neglected my blog! Well I have been inspired to write on it again, and have decided to make it a bit more dedicated to my love of make up and such like. But dont have time to write on it now, as its the end of the day and I am about to go to see the new Star Trek film so excited about that, even though im not a trekkie, have heard good things about it. Also going to nandos too which is always a bonus, although as im on a diet i am going to restrict myself to a chicken wrap, rice and sweetcorn, which is pretty much low fat!

Anyhow I will update more soon!
